Job Opening: Bethel Seeks Utilities Maintainer

The position will work daily with the water transmission, distribution and treatment systems and sewer collection and transmission systems.

BETHEL, CT — The town is seeking a utilities maintainer to maintain water pumps, meters, hydrants, valves and appurtenances and to take water meter readings. The position will work daily with the water transmission, distribution and treatment systems and sewer collection and transmission systems.

The candidate will have a high school degree and three years' employment related to water and sewage systems, or an equivalent combination of education, experience and training, along with comprehensive knowledge of water and sewer regulations of the town and the state.

Preferred candidate will have State of Connecticut Water Treatment Operator or Distribution Operator certification. The ability to obtain Water Treatment Collection and Water Distribution certifications is required.

The utilities maintainer will also need to have a valid Connecticut driver's license, perform overtime work as required, and be able to work independently and in inclement weather.

The utilities manager will work 40 hours a week and earn full benefits. Wages will range from $28.49 to $32.20 depending on level.
