Local Artist Creates Progressive, Interactive Art Walk in Bethel

Bethel Art Walk kicks off on Friday, Oct. 3 and invites participants to photograph local businesses in an artistic manner to win prizes.

His name sounds like he should be a member of the British Royal Family and Brookfield photographer Royal Scott’s photography is just as grand.

Scott has developed a style all his own in the ever-expanding world of photographers, with an eye for capturing artistic images in the world of fashion, portraiture and even buildings and structures. This October, art enthusiasts will be given the chance to enjoy his unique photography at an event he created in collaboration with the newly-formed Bethel Arts Organization and the Bethel Chamber of Commerce.

“Bethel Imagination Art Walk” is the brainchild of Scott, who displayed his work in a similar fashion in Seattle. Recently moving from the west coast to the east, he wanted to create a progressive exhibit that would engage and involve not only art lovers, but local business owners as well. And so Bethel Art Walk was born.

The idea, he explained, is to get people view his work while on a short walk, have a contest where people will take artistic pictures, “not selfies or anything like that,” he said. “We want people to use their imagination. Then they will post the pictures to the website to win prizes.”

The one-man photography show entitled “Whimsy” includes work that is displayed on hand-made, stretched canvas frames. “Roughly 60 percent of the frames that I use are prints of canvas that I seal and mount myself,” he said.
