Press release:
DANBURY, CT – OCTOBER 27, 2014 – Macaroni Kid Danbury-Bethel-Ridgefield (www.danbury.macaronikid.com) will host its first annual Birthday Bash event on November 15, 2014 from 1PM-4PM at the Danbury Sports Dome - an indoor, state-of-the-art, multi-sport, corporate and special event complex - located at 25 Shelter Rock Lane in Danbury. This birthday-themed event will showcase local businesses in an interactive, celebratory atmosphere that will provide guests – local families looking for kids’ birthday party planning resources – helpful information and a memorable, fun experience. 100% of the admission proceeds will be donated to Family and Children’s Aid -- a child-focused organization offering mental health care for local children and their families -- located at 80 West Street in Danbury.
As the Danbury area’s go-to online resource for parents looking for fun things to do locally for families, Macaroni Kid has quickly become a well sought after, targeted online weekly media vehicle for local businesses. As such, Macaroni Kid Danbury-Bethel-Ridgefield is naturally poised to connect businesses with local families through live events. Meghan Friedland, Publisher/Editor of Macaroni Kid Danbury-Bethel-Ridgefield explains, “Local parents love our web site and weekly e-newsletter. They tell us that they rely on our robust calendar of events to help plan their family’s activities for the week. Our readers are extremely loyal and they trust us to provide relevant online content from the events we list in our calendar to the articles that we write as well as the businesses and ads that we choose to promote. So creating live event opportunities that enable families and businesses to connect in person, is a natural extension of what we are already doing online.”

So what will the Birthday Bash be like? Meghan continues, “This will not be your typical Expo. From the décor to the kids’ activities and live entertainment, guests will feel like they are attending a huge birthday party.” Birthday hats and goody bags will be handed out to the first 300 children at arrival. Businesses will host interactive activities at their booths. In addition to meeting a variety of local party venues, guests will also sample birthday cake and treats from local bakeries as well as enjoy live entertainment including magic, music, costumed characters and various children’s activities. “Every single business participating will have something to offer for families looking to plan a memorable birthday party for their child and many will offer special deals for families looking to book a party while at the event.” Even the event venue itself will be participating in the Birthday Bash. Kirk Bamford, Director at Danbury Sports Dome shares: “The Danbury Sports Dome is one of the area’s premier birthday party locations. So we will give guests a sense of what it would be like to have a birthday party at the Dome. We’ll be creating a Fun Zone area with large inflatables and an obstacle course and will also have our private party room on display. Our arcade room will be open as well as our concession area. We’ll also be offering a $25 discount to anyone who books a party during the event.”
As customary with attending a birthday party, guests are asked to bring a gift – a new unwrapped toy, game, book or piece of sporting equipment – to be donated to Family and Children’s Aid in Danbury. In lieu of a physical gift, families can make a monetary donation at the door of $10 per family. The gifts will be used to help furnish a brand new resource center, currently being constructed in the new Family and Children’s Aid building on West Street. Meghan says, “When we found out that Family and Children’s Aid was in need of these items, it felt like a perfect fit for Macaroni Kid to help since our brand is all about connecting with and serving local families and our local community.” Nick Hoffman, Director of Fundraising at Family and Children’s Aid continues, “We are so grateful that Macaroni Kid selected us to be the recipient of the admission donations from their first annual Birthday Bash event. It couldn’t have happened at a better time as we are in the final phases of the construction of the new resource center and are reliant on donations from local businesses and organizations to be able to furnish it. There’s a game room, newsstand and sports area that will benefit directly from the donations by attendees of this event.”
