McGuire's Alehouse to Host 4th Annual Families Rock Event

On Saturday November 5, McGuire's Alehouse in Newtown will hosting Ability Beyond of Bethel's 4th Annual "Families Rock" event.

On Saturday November 5th, Newtown restaurant, McGuire’s Alehouse will be hosting Ability Beyond’s 4th Annual “Families Rock” event from 7:00-11:00 pm. Ability Beyond is a leading nonprofit providing services and programs to nearly 3,000 individuals with disabilities in Connecticut and New York.

McGuire’s Alehouse is generously donating 15% of all dinner proceeds during the 4-hour event to Ability Beyond. Admission is free, there will be raffles and the event is open to the public.

This annual event was created by Ability Beyond’s Family Committee, a group of family members that have loved ones being supported by the organization. The Family Committee will be providing a night of live entertainment in an effort to support the mission. Spearheading the committee is dedicated Southbury resident Paula Walsh. Three local bands will be performing that night including The Willie/Portera Trio from Newtown, The Blue Yodels from New Milford and The Trolls from New Fairfield. Jay Willie of the Willie/Portera Trio is an parent of a young man receiving supports and services from Ability Beyond.

All proceeds from “Families Rock” will go to Ability Beyond and support services for individuals with disabilities including residential alternatives, employment training, career counseling, job placement services, cognitive and life skills instruction, clinical and therapeutic support, and volunteer and recreational activities.

Ability Beyond is a 501{c} (3) organization headquartered in Bethel, Conn. and Chappaqua, N.Y. It provides a wide range of services for over 3,000 people with a disability that inhibits their activities of daily living -- including numerous residential alternatives, employment training, career counseling, job placement services, cognitive and life skills instruction, clinical and therapeutic support, and volunteer and recreational activities.
