Memory Resource and Support Center to Open in Bethel
A grand opening reception will be held on Thursday, August 6 from 4 - 7 p.m. with a ribbon cutting ceremony scheduled for 5 p.m.

The Memory Resource & Support Center announces its grand opening reception on Thursday, August 6 from 4 PM to 7 PM (a ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled at 5 PM) at 46 Stony Hill Road in Bethel. Attendees will have a first opportunity to see Fairfield County’s only resource center dedicated to those experiencing the impact Alzheimer’s and related dementias.
In attendance will be First Selectman Matthew Knickerbocker; Bethel Chamber of Commerce President Bobbi Jo Beers; President & CEO of the Alzheimer’s Association, Connecticut Chapter, Eleonora Tornatore-Mikesh and Maplewood Senior Living Chairman and CEO Gregory D. Smith along with area professionals.

The Memory Resource and Support Center serves Connecticut and NY regions and is free and open to the public. It offers a unique opportunity for professionals and students to learn, research and educated themselves on Alzheimer’s and related dementias. The areas of research and treatment, science, technology, clinical trials, medicine, holistic and therapeutic approaches are available in books, DVDs and periodicals.
Inspired by a classic bookstore and research library, the Memory Resource and Support Center was designed as a place where visitors can learn about Alzheimer’s and dementia in a comforting and pleasant atmosphere. The ambiance is created by featuring reclaimed, hemlock mushroom wood which acts as a contrast between literature, interactive screens and televisions. With an assortment of comfortable seating areas, visitors are encouraged to educate themselves on all areas pertaining to dementia with state-of-the-art, touch screens and interactive technology available.

The internet café featuring organic, air roasted coffee by Solude Coffee serves as a place where visitors can enjoy themselves while browsing the literature and conducting research. A simulation room acts as a place where visitors can learn and see how the disease affects someone. There is also a private conference room for guests, colleagues and others to meet and/or discuss possible solutions.
