Music and History of Women's Suffrage Movement at Bethel Library
The performance combines history and music and may be enjoyed by adults and young adults alike.

From Bethel Public Library: The Bethel Public Library is pleased to present "Songs of the Women's Suffrage Movement" on Wednesday March 6, 2019. Join us at 6:30 pm in the Library's Maria Parloa Community Room for a performance that wonderfully combines history and music for an enlightening and entertaining evening. Our presenters are the inimitable and very talented duo of Rick Spencer and Dawn Indermuehle.
This program follows the American suffragists' journey from Seneca Falls, NY, to the 19 th
Amendment, in their struggle for the right to vote. Music was one of the significant tools used in the crusade. Songs were composed to advance--and to oppose--the agenda that culminated in the 1919 ratification of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution. Rick and Dawn will present some of the most engaging and interesting songs of the movement along with historical commentary.
This free performance will be enjoyed by adults and young adults alike. Registration is required.
