Obituary: Linda Marie Callahan, 81, Of Bethel

BETHEL, CT — Linda Marie Callahan, age 81, of Bethel, died at Danbury Hospital , died on Thursday, June 22, 2023. Born and raised in the heart of Greenwich Village in New York City, she was the daughter of Loretta (Valcourt) Callahan and James Callahan. She lived most of her adult life in Queens, New York before moving to Bethel upon her retirement from her position as executive assistant to the CFO of HBO.

Linda loved to travel to Europe and throughout the United States. She enjoyed drawing and painting, and in her 70s, she began learning to play the piano, which was a life-long dream of hers. Her other love was line dancing. She danced for over 10 years at local senior centers and JKShuffles in New Milford.

She is survived by: her son, Brian McEvoy and his wife, Nicole, and her daughter, Kerri McEvoy Monsen and her husband Rob; six grandchildren, Ian Monsen, Ryan McEvoy, Megan McEvoy, Kiersten McEvoy, Brendan McEvoy and Caileine Monsen; her daughter-in-law, Carrie McEvoy; and her former husband, A. William McEvoy, as well as several nieces and nephews. Linda is predeceased by her beloved son, William McEvoy and her brothers, James “Cal” Callahan and Francis “Joe” Callahan.

The funeral will be held at the Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Ave., Bethel, Thursday, June 29, 2023 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Bethel. The family will receive friends at the Bethel Funeral Home, Wednesday, June 28, 2023 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.
