Obituary: Robert William Krokovich Sr., 86, Of Bethel

BETHEL, CT — Robert William Krokovich Sr, 86, of Bethel, formally of New Fairfield, passed away on Friday, July 1, 2022. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years Delores Rose (DeLuca) Krokovich.
He is survived by his children Robert W. Krokovich, Linda M. Pelletier, Lisa A. Krokovich, and Ronald A. Krokovich, their spouses, 7 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was also survived by his sister Myrtle Zeller, many nieces and a nephew.

He was born in Danbury on July 1, 1936, raised in Bethel, son of the late Rudolph J and Myrtle (Lassen) Krokovich. He was a graduate of Bethel High School and was a member of the track, basketball and baseball teams.
He was in the construction industry for over 60 years where he operated heavy machinery and drove trucks for various companies. His happiest times were spent fishing, playing his guitar, playing baseball, attending truck shows with his son and watching his favorite sports teams. He always helped others in need.

He was a member of the National Guard from 1954-1962, where he was honorably discharged. He was a member of the American Legion Post #60, where he was a board member, Color Guard, 2018 Memorial Day Honorary Grand Marshal and in the Legion band, Korean War Veterans and the Catholic War Veterans. Among his honors, he received multiple citations: the Henry S. Bialoglowy Plaque for the promotion and education of the American Flag, Elks Distinguished Citizenship and Citation award, and in 2017 Mayor Mark Boughton presented him with a citation for making Danbury the most patriotic city in Connecticut.
He was also very successful in volunteering his time to raising funds for Post #60 Flag Fund and Scholarship Fund. He enjoyed participating in displaying of the flags in Danbury for all patriotic holidays assisted by the Danbury explorers.
Friends may call from 4:00pm -7:00pm on Friday, July 8, 2022 at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury.
Burial will be private.
