Opinion: 'McCorkindale Fights Back Against Wasteful Spending'
A Letter to the Editor from Bethel's State Rep. Dan Carter in support of Cynthia McCorkindale for Board of Finance.

A Letter to the Editor from State Rep. Dan Carter:
To the Editor:
Over time I have come to appreciate those in our town who fight back against what they consider to be wasteful spending, especially in times when our economy is slow and governments are asking for more from us. Cynthia McCorkindale is one of those people and I am voting for her for the Bethel Board of Finance.
Cynthia understands how important it is for us to live within our means and that more money thrown at a problem doesn’t always equal a solution. Having someone with strong principles on responsible spending who is willing stand by their principles and say “No” often forces the advocates for a plan to work harder to justify their position, or sometimes prioritize their resources. I am convinced the end result is usually a more reasonable spending plan.
Cynthia McCorkindale has proven the will gain an understanding of the issues and work to find solutions, while treating the money she is responsible for like her own. I also trust that her past advocacy for open and honest government will mean that she will live by those values while in service to us. I encourage you to visit her web page and learn more about her and support her November 3rd.
Dan Carter, Bethel, Conn.
