Proposed Bethel Budget To Go Before Public
The budget proposal represents a 5.2 percent increase over the current year's fiscal plan
BETHEL, CT — The proposed 2019-20 budget goes before the town in a public hearing Tuesday night.
The $78.5 million budget proposal represents a 5.2 percent increase over the current year's fiscal plan, and would raise the tax rate by 2.49 percent.
The proposed budget breaks down $26.4 million for the town , nearly $46.5 million for the schools, $5.2 million for debt service and $480,000 for maintenance.

The hearing will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 19 in the cafeteria of the middle school. After the public has had their chance to comment, the finance board will take one more pass at it before the vote to be held at the April 1 town meeting.
