Proposed Budget Would Hike Bethel Taxes by Over 2 Percent
The overall spending would represent a 5.2 percent increase over the current budget,
BETHEL, CT — The Finance Board has voted to send a $78.5 million budget proposal to a public hearing, the News-Times has reported.
That bottom line represents a 5.2 percent increase over the current budget, and would raise the tax rate by 2.49 percent.
About 2 percent of the tax hike can be traced to the elementary school renovations and new police station. New state requirements and rising enrollments account for around a 3 percent spike in the schools budget.
