Rep. Dan Carter Sworn in for Second Term as Ranking Member of the General Law Committee
This will be his third term representing the 2nd district.

HARTFORD -- State Representative Dan Carter (R-2) was sworn in today as state representative for the 2nd General Assembly District covering Danbury, Newtown, Redding, and his hometown of Bethel. He has been named to his second term as Ranking Member of the legislature’s General Law Committee by House Republican Leader Themis Klarides. The General Law Committee is responsible for all matters relating to the Department of Consumer Protection, fair trade and sales practices, and consumer protection. For the 2015-2016 legislative term, Rep. Carter will be the highest appointed position of the Republican Party on the committee.
“While my overarching concern is mitigating the effects of the financial crisis in our state, I will be working to remove red tape to help our businesses grow,” said Rep. Carter. “I will also continue my efforts towards reforming the family court system.”
He also announced his legislative committee assignments for the upcoming two years. Rep. Carter will also serve on the legislature’s Education Committee and Energy & Technology Committee.

Rep. Carter took the oath of office and was sworn in by Secretary of State Denise Merrill on Wednesday afternoon in the State House Chamber. He then participated in a Joint Convention of both the House of Representatives and Senate as Gov. Dannel Malloy addressed lawmakers about the 2015 session. Rep. Carter is serving his third term in the State House.
