Rep. David Scribner: "Save Money on Energy Bills This Winter!"

Rep. Scribner passes along advice on what you can do to keep heating costs low.

As temperatures begin to drop, you don’t want to have to worry about turning your thermostats up! Luckily, Connecticut Light & Power (CL&P) has released some suggestions on how to defend yourself against this winter’s rising energy rates.

Here’s what you can do to prevent your heating bill from rising as well:

  • Caulk drafty doors and windows.
  • Make sure heating vents aren’t blocked.
  • Switch to energy-efficient light bulbs.
  • Sign up for a home energy assessment through the Energize Connecticut program.
  • Take advantage of CL&P’s: Budget Billing, which offers equal monthly payments throughout the year, and Energy-Saving Programs.
  • Check out how EnergizeCT’s rebates and incentives can benefit you. Including: No-cost weatherization services to income-eligible customers and the purchase of energy-efficient heating systems, refrigerators and water heaters.
