Report and Photography by Paula Antolini
According to Bethel Police Sergeant Kaluta, a Bethel resident called police at 6:45 a.m. Saturday morning, June 7, 2014, to report a large quantity of graffiti and other damage on the newly constructed Walnut Hill Road / Limekiln Brook bridge. The name of resident who reported the incident is not being released, Kaluta said.
Vandals used red paint to spread graffiti across the new pavement in several areas and also sprayed it on a large cement wall, a large piece of construction equipment, two road safety signs, and both sides of a white pick up truck.
The vandalism occurred sometime late Friday or early Saturday.
Words like "Fag" and "Fix the Bridge A#@hole" and "D@#k" and more vulgar comments, along with X-rated drawings, marred the project that was nearing completion.
The incident is presently under investigation.
