The Bethel Public Library wants everyone to know that September is Library Card Sign-Up Month! And how appropriate that it’s also back-to-school month, so that libraries can remind parents that the most important school supply is a library card from your local public library.
Libraries play an important role in the education and development of children. Studies show that children who use the library perform better in school. Not only in September, but every day throughout the year, Bethel Library staff encourages parents to read regularly to their children, and to get them their own library cards when they reach 5 years of age or are in Kindergarten. Children who can write their first and last names may receive their cards even before they turn 5 years old. Bethel Library cards are issued free of charge. The only requirement is that parents provide proof of Bethel residency.
Children aren’t the only ones who will benefit from having a library card. Library cards serve as passports to a world of enlightenment and information for all ages. Please be sure to stop by the Bethel Public Library and get a library card today. It’s amazing that something so small can reap such big rewards.
