Speeding Bethel Man Facing DUI Charge in Wilton
According to police, an officer had to accelerate up to 60 miles per hour to catch up with the driver.

A Bethel man is facing a DUI charge after police say he was speeding on Route 7 in Wilton.
According to police, an officer observed a fast moving vehicle on traveling north on Route 7 in the area of Grumman Hill Road on July 25 around midnight.
Police say when a cruiser caught up to the vehicle, a BMW, at the traffic light on Westport Road, the BMW turned left behind another car when the light turned green. The BMW then passed the vehicle on the right, accelerating well above the posted speed limit.

The officer had to accelerate up to 60 miles per hour to catch up to the vehicle till it was stopped at the Breitling Driveway.
According to police, the driver, Ashwin Jayaraman failed standard field sobriety tests and was arrested for DUI.

He was released on a promise to appear in court on Aug. 4.
