State Sen. Boucher Announces Passage of New Education Bills
Boucher represents the 26th District of Bethel, Weston, Redding, Ridgefield, Wilton, Westport and New Canaan.

Senator Toni Boucher, ranking member on the Education Committee, announced Thursday that several education bills were passed during the 2015 Legislative session.
“Many of these bills will make a difference immediately in a child’s life,” said Sen. Boucher in a press release.
An Act Concerning the Inclusion of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Training is one bill that requires school districts to train students in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Under the new bill, schools may now accept grants to help fund the training of teachers and staff in CPR.

“Training students in CPR will fill schools, as well as entire communities, with lifesavers. Students in possession of CPR skills won’t be afraid to take action if they witness an unresponsive person who is not breathing or not breathing normally. They will know to call 911 and to begin pushing hard and fast on the center of the chest, becoming the first link in the chain of survival,” Sen. Boucher said.
Another bill that was passed is the Act Concerning Students with Dyslexia. This bill allows a representative with the State Board of Education to work with parents and school districts to help students with dyslexia and teachers who work with them.
