A suspicious vehicle marked as a vehicle marked “carrying school children” may have tried to pick up students Thursday, the superintendent wrote in an email to parents.

“All students are safe. The details of the incident are being investigated by the Bethel Police Department,” Dr. Carver said.

“We have spoken to our bus company and our drivers are on alert. We wanted to notify parents immediately to make you aware of this report so that you can take any necessary precautions. Please note that all Bethel Public Schools buses and vans are marked both Bethel Public Schools or Bethel and First Student, which is our transportation provider. Our fleet of vans are white and all of our full size buses and minibuses are yellow. The reported vehicle was a dark color. There should not be any other vehicles transporting students of the Bethel Public Schools. If you see any suspicious vehicles or have had a similar experience, please call your child’s building administrator or the Bethel Police Department immediately.Again, the safety of our children is our highest priority. At this time we have no additional information but wanted you to be aware of this report.”
