Three Bethel Generations Compete In Chicago Karate Tournament

Bethel residents Roxanne Doyon, Gabrielle Dunn, Rudolph, and JoAnn
Sainz were presented with their world champion titles and black belts
this past weekend in Chicago, Ill. The award ceremony was held on
January 20th at the Warrior Cup International tournament. This event is
held for all styles of martial arts.

Roxanne,
Gabrielle and JoAnn (grandma) all competed this past year for points
towards a world champion title in their respective divisions. Gabrielle
won the title in the Korean forms and also won the Japanese/Okinawan
division.

Roxanne won the title for 50 years and above traditional forms and the title for overall grand champion.

JoAnn won the title for 60 years and above women's forms.

All
three family members train with Steve Doyon, Roxanne's husband, at
Connecticut Martial Arts in Danbury. Roxanne and Steve own and operate
this facility along with their son Jared Dunn.

in Austria, the UK, Ireland and many other places around the United
States.

The mother,
daughter, granddaughter team plan on working hard this year to defend
their titles. They already started the year off with a great outcome in
Chicago. Gabrielle won her first two divisions then went on to winning
an overall womens warrior cup title. Roxanne won her division and also
won the 50 and above overall title. Grandma won third place with a huge
smile on her face. She was competing against people that were 17years
younger than her.
