Town of Bethel Announces Voluntary Water Restriction

The The Bethel Utilities Department is asking for water conservation during abnormally dry conditions.

BETHEL, CT — The First Selectman has announced that the Town of Bethel is on a voluntary water restriction.

"The Bethel Utilities Department, in its continued commitment to supply quality water to the residents of Bethel, is requesting a voluntary water restriction in order to conserve water supply during the unusually warm weather conditions and lack of rainfall," the department said in a statement.

A voluntary water restriction.on the amount of outside water use is being put into place which applies to washing cars, watering flowers and other non essential outside uses.

The Town is requesting that residents follow an odd/even water conservation plan. This plan allows for houses with an even street number to water on the even days of the month and for odd street numbers to water on the odd days of the month.

Any property with an automatic sprinkling system is required to operate only during the non-peak hours between 11 p.m. to 4 a.m.
