'Treasures of The Church' on Exhibit in Bethel
The exhibit includes one of the largest pieces of the cross upon which it is believed Jesus Christ was crucified.
BETHEL, CT — A traveling exposition of relics that once belonged to various saints will go on exhibit at St. Mary Church on Thursday.
The exhibition, "Treasures of the Church," is a ministry of evangelization of the Catholic Church and boasts over 150 sacred items, including one of the largest pieces of the cross upon which it is believed Jesus Christ was crucified.
A veil said to belong to St. Mary, and sacred relics once in the possession of St. Teresa of Avila, St. Francis of Assisi, St. Thérèse of Lisieux, St. Thomas Aquinas and other saints are also part of the presentation.

Each exposition begins with a multimedia presentation given by Father Carlos Martins, of the Companions of the Cross, on the Church's use of relics.
The ministry travels throughout the world by invitation. To date, it has been hosted in almost 200 Catholic dioceses in various countries, according to its website.

The exposition will be held at St. Mary Church in Bethel on 26 Dodgingtown Road beginning 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 11.
