Victory for Bethel 9s in Cal Ripken New England Regional Tournament

In double elimination play that began Friday afternoon and went into the evening, Bethel 9s defeated Danbury in a nailbiter of a game.

In two action packed games, the Bethel 9s clawed their way to a victory Friday night after taking an early lead 7-2 which was chipped away to a final score of 7-5 in a nailbiting finish.

Emotions overflowed the Bethel bench once in a while, causing a few kicks, banged bats and tears of frustration, but in the end, the Bethel team along with its coaching staff of Tom Carraturo, Jim Lacey and John Amendola acheived the ultimate goal.

The New England Regionals or any championship has not graced Bethel in 18 years according to Bill Slifkin during the award presentation. He said he was so proud that two local teams started and finished this event so strong and with dignity and grace.
