Whiz Kids: Mrs. Teed, Mrs. Donohue's Classes at Johnson School

After reading an article on soda tab bracelets, this amazing class, decided to try making them. A fun project turned into a fundraiser and they donated more than $1,300 to The Scotty Fund.

Linda Anderson was invited to Johnson School Wednesday morning with a surprise in store for her and her son, Brett. At 8:30 a.m., the classes of Mrs. Liz Teed and Mrs. Amy Donohue presented them with a check for over $1,300 for the Scotty Fund - their intention is to help kids and families in Bethel struggling with illness .

It all started when Teed saw a news article on a Danbury student that was making and selling jewelry for a small profit, like a small business. The class was really interested in learning and collecting tabs to try this new craft out. One young boy, Max Correard suggested that they sell and give the money to the Scotty Fund. That was all it took, the mere mention of donation, the class became a full force into making and selling these unique bracelets.

Student Brett Anderson is a classmate at Johnson brought it closer to home for them. His family has been helping the community for many years now with the Scotty Fund, named after his brother, Scotty who passed away from childhood cancer.
