205-Unit Branford Apartment and Mixed-Use Project Receives Conceptual Approval
The developer still needs to fine tune his site plan before receiving final approval.

The Branford Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved Thursday night to approve conceptual plans for a 205-unit apartment complex, which is the former site of the Atlantic Wire Mill on Church Street, reports Esteban L. Hernandez, of the New Haven Register.
The project called Atlantic Wharf is being proposed by Milford developer, Metro Star Properties LLC and its founder Robert Smith.
The next step for Smith is to create a detailed site plan as the zoning commission included several conditions include: a four-way intersection at Church and Montowese streets and Pine Orchard Road, and angled or parallel parking for Meadow Street, the Register reports.

Smith is seeking to construct a large-scale mixed-use development of the site including apartments, retail space and office space, the Register reports. The proposal includes 32 rental studios, 123 1-bedroom units and 50 2-bedroom units.
Smith has vowed to work with town officials on improving the project.
