24 Coronavirus Cases In Branford Public Schools As Of Friday
The latest positive case of COVID-19, reported to families by superintendent Hernandez, is in the John B. Sliney School community.
BRANFORD, CT — As of late Friday, Branford Public Schools are reporting 24 cases of coronavirus, with the latest from the John B. Sliney School community.
Schools superintendent Hamlet Hernandez wrote to families that anyone who would be considered a 'close contact' was contacted by school officials and/or public health officials and was told what to do: quarantine for two weeks, watch for possible symptoms and get a COVID test.
Hernandez said that parents/guardians, students, and staff should "continue to follow CDC guidance for healthy practices, to monitor their health, and to stay home and contact their medical provider should they experience any of the symptoms below."

- Fever (100.4° Fahrenheit or higher)
- Chills or shaking chills
- Uncontrolled new cough (not due to other known cause, such as chronic cough)
- Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
- New loss of taste or smell

"Our school district will continue to monitor the evolving crisis and appreciates your partnership in making choices that help to keep our staff, students, and community safe," Hernandez wrote.
