2nd Annual Kids' Poster Contest, "Respect Your Elders", K-Grade 12 Great Prizes! In Recognition of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, 6/15/17

No Place Like Home-Care, Branford, is proud to announce its 2nd Annual “Respect Your Elders” Kids Poster Contest in recognition of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD), June 15, 2017. The purpose is to bring attention to the community about the ever increasing problem of elder abuse, both locally and world-wide.

On December 19, 2011, the UN General Assembly designated June 15th as World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. It was first observed on June 15, 2012. Although physical abuse is typically what one associates with elder abuse, it can take on many other forms including neglect, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, abandonment, financial abuse/exploitation, and self-neglect. Elder abuse crosses all social, economic, ethnic and racial lines and many of the perpetrators are trusted family members, friends or caregivers.
