Branford Scouting has been building citizenship, leadership skills, and a spirit of adventure in youth for over 10 years, serving ages 5–20 through four dynamic programs. Through experiential learning, Branford scouts experience adventures from ice climbing to sailing in the Florida Keys, with campouts all year round for our older scouts. Our commitment to country is reflected in where we meet—serving our veterans at Branford’s VFW Post 12106—and through meaningful experiences like our recent trip to Washington, D.C., where scouts participated in the Changing of the Guard at Arlington National Cemetery and presented a wreath in honor of our fallen heroes. Our younger Cub Scouts also demonstrate patriotism by marching in parades and placing flags at cemeteries, just like their older peers. They enjoy fun and discovery at weekly meetings and through memorable outings, such as an overnight at the Norwalk Maritime Center, sleeping aboard the World War II battleship USS Massachusetts, and exploring the EcoTarium museum. BRANFORD, CT — Branford Police detectives are asking for the public's assistance in identifying a vehicle used by three to four black males who are accused of assaulting and robbing an employee of an ATM machine company while he was in the process of replenishing the machine's funds at a business, police said. Police responded to the parking area of 150 West Main Street just after 12:30p.m. and interviewed the victim, who told detectives that he had been assaulted by tall, thin, black males, who struck him with a handgun, ultimately forcing him to relinquish access to a large sum of money, police said in a news release. The suspects fled the area in a white Chevrolet, four door, compact car, police said. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Branford Police Department at 203-481-4241 or contact the Branford Crime Tip Line at 203-315-3909.
