Access Health CT Small Business Health Insurance Available For Businesses With 50 Or Less Employees: State

BRANFORD, CT — Access Health CT has announced a new financial incentive to help Connecticut small businesses provide health insurance to their employees, state Rep. Robin Comey shared in a recent legislative update.

According to Comey, eligible businesses with 50 or fewer employees can receive a tax credit of up to $1,000 per employee, per year, when they offer an Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangement through AHCT’s BusinessPlus platform. The credit is available for the first two consecutive years an employer offers an ICHRA, it's noted.

Access Health CT is the only place where business owners can access this tax credit, she shared.

An ICHRA is a flexible, allowance-based health benefit that gives employers a cost-effective way to contribute toward their employees’ health insurance.

How it works:

• Employers set a monthly contribution amount for each employee
• Eligible employees can use those funds toward an individual health insurance plan available through Access Health CT

This new incentive gives small businesses another tool to provide meaningful health benefits to their employees while managing costs, it's noted.
