Access To Hiking Trails Closed As Eversource Removes Power Lines

From Monday through Aug. 7, trails between Red Hill Road in Branford and Granite Road in Guilford will be closed so workers can safely work.

BRANFORD & GUILFORD, CT — Electric utility company Eversource will be removing electric lines along hiking trails in Branford and Guilford beginning Monday and paths will be temporarily closed to safely complete the work.

In a statement, Eversource says that, "While continuing to operate its Covid-19 pandemic plan," the utility will remove overhead electrical lines and utility poles from a right-of-way that runs from Branford to Guilford.

Eversource said that, "System upgrades made in recent years in these communities made it possible to remove this remote electric current."

So hiking trails that cross the right of way will be closed and signs willl be posted "warning hikers of the work will be placed at the beginning of the trails and parking areas near the work zone."

Set to start Monday and last through Aug. 7, the area affected is the trails between Red Hill Road in Branford and Granite Road in Guilford.
