After 40 Years With Branford Police, Beverly Cooke Retires

Cooke worked as the assistant for the department's police chiefs. Five of them over four decades.

BRANFORD, CT — Beverly Cooke has devoted 40 years to the community by working as the police chief's assistant, five of them in fact.

On the anniversary of those many years with the Branford Police Department, Cooke has officially retired.

"Beverly has been a pillar of our department for four decades," current Police Chief Jon Mulhern told Patch. "Her presence and unwavering work ethic will be missed, but we are excited for her happiness in retirement."

In a Facebook post Monday, the department celebrated Cooke noting that the department is "delighted" that she'll enjoy a "well-deserved retirement," she'll nonetheless be "greatly missed."

"Her hard work and dedication each and every day did not go unnoticed," the post reads. "She was a vital part of the operations of the department and was always willing to help everyone who works at the Branford Police Department."
