Alert Young Branford Boy May Have Saved 92-Year-Old Man From a Burning House
The Branford community is rallying to the family's aid after the fire destroyed their house.

A young Branford boy may be the reason a 92-year-old man is alive today, reports WTNH News 8.
The young boy saw flames shooting out of Alice and Jim Ruggiero’s Heritage Hill Road house on Halloween.
He screamed for his dad to call 911, WTNH News 8 reports. The boy’s dad also rushed over to safely get Jim Ruggiero’s dad out of the burning house.

Jim and Alice were not home at the time of the fire but Jim’s dad was home.
The Ruggiero’s call the little boy their “little hero.”

The fire destroyed their houses and the Branford community is coming to their aid.
According to News 8 the following has been set up for the family.
A fund in the Ruggiero’s name has been set up at First Niagara Bank at 1026 Main Street in Branford. Envelopes can be addressed to the attention of manager Jeff Vernon, or sent to Century 21 AllPoints at 1236 Main Street in Branford, to the attention of Kathi Kroll.
92-year-old Century21 is hosting a pasta dinner at the Branford Elks Club on Monday, November 10, at 158 South Montowese Street in Branford, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
A $20 donation is suggested and 100 percent of the proceeds will be given to the family.
