All-Inclusive Playground Opens in Branford
The $145,000 project debuted roughly a month ahead of schedule.

An all-inclusive playground was inaugurated in Branford earlier this week, the New Haven Register reports.
The playground at Hammer Field is accessible to children with disabilities and features auditory, sensory and visionary play areas.
Parks and Recreation Director Alex Paluzzi told the Register that the town and the Department of Parks and Recreation contributed a total of $93,000 that covered the “big kids” part of the playground.

The remaining part of the project is a toddler’s playground, which has not been finished yet. Paluzzi told the Register that he is still looking for donors to contribute to the toddler’s part and would not be taking any money from the town.
In its previous state, the playground featured hazardous rusty equipment, Paluzzi told the paper. A majority of the new equipment is now made of plastic.

According to the publication, the plan is to gradually replace each of the town’s five playgrounds.
