Early Morning Wednesday Fire At West Main Street Nail Salon Knocked Down, No Injuries Reported: BFD (patch.com) — Branford firefighters quickly knocked down a Wednesday morning blaze at Nail Expressions on West Main Street after staff discovered smoke and flames on arrival. No civilians or firefighters were injured, though a neighboring salon sustained smoke damage, and investigators say an electrical device failure caused the accidental fire. Mutual aid from East Haven and Guilford departments supported Branford crews and police at the scene.    

2. 3. 404,412 Mini Booze Bottles Sold In Branford From Oct. 2025-March 31 Nets Town $20K (patch.com) — Branford residents bought more than 404,000 mini liquor bottles between October 2025 and March 2026, sending over $20,000 back to the town through Connecticut’s Nickel per Nip Environmental Fee. Local officials can now use this money for cleanups, composting, recycling staff, and other environmental projects that directly benefit Branford neighborhoods.    

4. Invasive 'Jumping Worms' Spotted In Madison: CT Agricultural Experiment Station (patch.com) — Asian jumping worms, an invasive species that damages soil, have been spotted this season in Branford as well as other shoreline towns. State scientists report higher worm populations after a mild winter and early warmth, and they’re urging residents to avoid moving infested soil or plants and to kill any worms they find in gardens using safe disposal methods.    

5. CBP seizure of firearm suppressor at JFK leads to Connecticut arrest and seizure of 39 firearms, explosives, and other contraband (einpresswire.com) — Federal and local authorities searched a Branford home after a seized firearm suppressor shipment led investigators to a local resident, resulting in his arrest and the confiscation of dozens of firearms, high-capacity magazines, explosives, and narcotics. The case, tied to a shipment flagged at JFK Airport, is being prosecuted by the New Haven State’s Attorney’s Office.
