Robert Vance Jr., 54 of East Haven passed away peacefully at home on May 18, 2026 with his family by his side. He was born July 18, 1971 in Meriden to Robert Vance and the late Susan (Sherwood) Vance. Robert is survived by his father and three devoted and loving sons; Braden Vance of NYC, Tyler Vance of East Haven and Nicholas Vance of East Haven, his former wife, Amber Vance of East Haven and a brother, Dr. Jeffrey Vance of Bridgeport.
Having been raised in East Haven, Robert graduated from East Haven High School, where he was involved in several sports, student government, and the dramatic arts. After graduating from high school, Robert proudly served his country in the United States Navy. After completing his military service, Robert returned to Connecticut and studied at the University of Connecticut, graduating with a degree in psychology. His interests in human behavior and criminology led him to a devoted and successful career as a private investigator. Robert’s hobbies were enjoying sports, especially the Chicago Bears, traveling to new places, and spending time with his family and friends.
Robert was known for his boundless happiness and positive nature, always with a smile on his face. He was a sincere person who took great pride in helping others, no matter their background or walk of life. Above all, Robert was a man of the people and will be forever missed. The Vance family would like to thank the doctors and staff at the VA Hospital in West Haven, as well as the Hospice Care providers who assisted the family.
Family will receive friends on Friday, May 22, 2026 from 4 to 7 PM in the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. A Mass of Christian Burial with US Navy Honors will be celebrated on Saturday May 23 at 11 AM in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at the Church of St. Vincent de Paul, 80 Taylor Ave., East Haven. His burial will take place on Thursday May 28 at 11 AM in All Saints Cemetery, 700 Middletown Ave., North Haven. Please go directly to the cemetery on Thursday and meet at the cemetery office.
