Moving On Up: Familiar Faces, New Roles, For Two Branford Parks & Recreation Staffers

BRANFORD, CT — You may already know their faces. One has been part of Parks & Recreation since he was just 13. Now, two Branford Parks, Recreation & Senior Services staffers have been promoted.

Ricky DiRago was named as the department's new program supervisor. DiRago has been with our department for nearly three years, previously as the program coordinator. DiRago has more than six years of working full-time in the parks and recreation field with additional experience in the professional sports field. And he volunteers his time with the Branford Sports Hall of Fame and the Connecticut Recreation & Parks Association. DiRago is also a "big Philadelphia Eagles fan, so when you see him, tell him, 'Go, Birds."

Joe Carbone was named the new program coordinator. Carbone has been a part of the town's parks & rec department since he was 13, starting as a counselor-in-training. He has since held various part-time roles with after-school programs and special events. He's also been a part of an outdoor maintenance crew. Carbone graduated from the University of Tampa in 2024 with a B.S. in Sport Management. So, he's a parks and rec pro, and outside of work, plays in softball and hockey adult leagues.
