Man Who Pleaded Guilty To Drug Trafficking Sold Cocaine, Fentanyl From Branford Hotel: Feds

NEW HAVEN, CT — Terrence Davis, 41, of New Haven, pleaded guilty in federal court Tuesday to drug trafficking, according to David X. Sullivan, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut.

And the prosecutor said Davis did so from a Branford hotel. Authorities did not name the hotel.

Sullivan said that according to court documents and statements made in court, members of the FBI’s Safe Streets Gang Task Force developed evidence that David was selling fentanyl and crack cocaine from a hotel in Branford.

On October 15, 2025, investigators made a controlled purchase of narcotics from Davis, the prosecutor said.

On October 17, 2025, a court-authorized search of Davis’ hotel room revealed nearly 700 grams of cocaine, more than 70 grams of fentanyl, drug packaging materials, and $13,867 in cash. Davis was arrested on state charges at that time and was subsequently released on bond, according to Sullivan.

This matter was adopted for federal prosecution, and, on Jan. 7, Davis was charged by indictment, according to Justice. He was arrested federally on Jan. 8. On that date, a search of the same hotel room where Davis was staying revealed approximately 60 grams of fentanyl, 25 grams of crack cocaine, and seven grams of powder cocaine.

Davis pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl and 500 grams or more of cocaine, an offense that carries a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of five years and a maximum term of imprisonment of 40 years.

Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 30.

Davis has been detained since his arrest.
