1. RTM Weighs Senior Tax Freeze, Pesticide Limits, Jefferson Place

Where: Branford Fire Headquarters, 45 N. Main St.
What to know: The Representative Town Meeting will consider recommending a town ordinance allowing a senior property tax freeze for certain qualified senior homeowners and an ordinance limiting the town's use of certain pesticides, according to the corrected call. It will also consider designating Jefferson Place as a town road, as petitioned by the adjacent property owners. Note the location: the meeting is at fire headquarters.

2. Year-End Transfers Cover Fire, Police Overtime
When: Wednesday, Oct. 14, 7:30 p.m.
Where: Branford Fire Headquarters, 45 N. Main St.
What to know: Among the fiscal 2026 transfers on the RTM agenda: $298,794 for the Fire Department, mostly for overtime and accumulated sick pay, and $238,726 for police. Fire Chief Thomas F. Mahoney Jr. wrote that the overages came from filling vacancies to meet minimum staffing and from sick-time payouts to retirees under the union contract, and that ambulance billing brought in $518,379 more than projected. The registrars are also seeking $17,349 to cover two weeks of mandatory early voting.

3. Dog Day Care Proposed On North Main Street
When: Thursday, Oct. 15, 7 p.m. (remote)
Where: Planning and Zoning office, 1019 Main St.
What to know: The Planning and Zoning Commission will hold public hearings on a special exception for a dog day care at 46-50 North Main St., owned by 50 North Main St LLC, and a special exception for an office use at 1-3 Jefferson Road, Unit 2, owned by VSP Realty LLC, according to the legal notice. 4. Police Commissioners Get Budget Overview
When: Tuesday, Oct. 13, 5:30 p.m.
Where: Branford Police Headquarters, 33 Laurel St.
What to know: The Board of Police Commissioners will hear the chief's budget overview and September statistical and training reports, consider moving a retiring officer to supernumerary status, and present letters of recognition to several officers and a police social worker, according to the agenda.
