Opening Day of Fishing at RWA Recreation Area Lake Saltonstall

Wishing you were fishing? Opening day of fishing in Connecticut is April 8. With your state fishing license and a Regional Water Authority (RWA) recreation permit, you and your family can enjoy fishing for bass and walleye at Lake Saltonstall in Branford.
Lake Saltonstall features shore-fishing and a 70-foot long, wheelchair accessible dock. Boats are available to rent on a first-come, first-served basis on Saturdays and Sundays from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Tuesdays and Fridays from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Permit holders can enjoy miles of wide, well-kept trails through a wilderness that is just minutes from your home. The RWA provides easy-to-read trail maps and offers special events such as nature walks and fishing derbies.
Permits range in cost from $20 for a one-year Individual Permit for seniors, the disabled or students to $50 for a two-year Family Permit. The RWA also offers a daily permit for $5 at Lake Saltonstall during the same hours as boat rentals.
