Irish-American Heritage Month Comes to a Close

Irish-American Month comes to a close and we recap New Haven's St. Patrick's Parade Day in pictures.

As Irish-American Heritage Month comes to a close and the last St. Patrick's Day Parade (Mystic) has marched onto the green fields, it's time to put away the box of green goodies. But for the Greater New Haven St. Patrick's Day Parade committee it's not over just yet. Our website has just been updated with lots of 2012 Parade Day photos. Come take a look here.

This years Parade was one for the record books. With sunny skies and unseasonably high temperatures, crowd estimates by NHPD and NHFD members in attendance were recorded at 325,000! You may have also read or here numbers for the downtown district being 20-30,000. To clarify this is a one block area and our parade route consists of 20 city blocks. You will also read in these articles the police report for the day. While the parade committee would prefer a zero arrest number, . We have tried very hard along with the City of New Haven and the NHPD to bring back families to parade day. AS I marched down Chapel and Church earlier this month I think we acomplished this. If you have any comments on this years parade, let me hear about it. Send me an email at chairperson@stpatricksdayparade.org

Next up, Awards Night and an Irish Breakfast. Join us if you can.
