Is Anyone Else Having Trouble Sleeping?

I'm a girl who really likes her sleep.  Let's just say waking me before I'm ready to get up is not a great idea.  Has anyone else in the vicinity of the train tracks in Branford been having trouble sleeping lately?  I first noticed it some time last week, but it hit home early on Monday morning.  A train was sounding its whistle repeatedly and loudly at 6:30am (which sounds more like a horn to me).  I know, plenty of you are already up and out of the house at 6:30am, but my alarm was set for 7:30am and I didn't appreciate being startled out of sleep an hour early.  And that was with the windows closed!

It happened again mid-day.  I had to pause the TV because I couldn't hear it over the train horn sounding with the windows open.  Granted there aren't a lot of days when we have the windows open and no fans running, but if I couldn't hear the TV, I'm guessing a fan wouldn't dampen the train whistle too much.

I started to get really nervous just after midnight when a train went racing by actually making my ears hurt with its loud whistle/horn.  I called the police department's non-emergency line and was informed that the trains are exempt from noise ordinances and there is construction in the area.  Um, yeah, I know, it's kind of difficult to miss, but this is different. 

Does anyone know what's going on and when it will end?  This girl needs her beauty sleep!  Please tell me it's not going to be this loud and this frequent until the end of the project which is years -- yes, years -- away.

In other "train news" starting April 23 for construction of new bridge in Madison/Clinton.
