Mayor Maturo: A Fast Food Response?

Having seen the entire video of to a WPIX reporter, I think it's time for the East Haven Community to come together in a higher level dialogue, less insulting, incendiary and inflammatory.

In comic terms, they say timing is everything. 

When police have been indicted, purported levity on the part of an administration official isn't the way to go.  This was simply, at best, an enormous mistake, reflecting poorly on all residents of East Haven, including the police.

In any town, people need to be kept safe from physical harm.

Yet, personal safety must also include protection from patronizing sentiments that are as hurtful as they are ignorant and insensitive.

I, for one, am sure that Mr. Maturo's statements to that one reporter do not reflect the depth of sensitivity we so often see in most East Haven residents.  I would also like to believe that these words do not reflect the real attitude inside the Mayor himself.
