Sharing the Treasures of the Holiday

It's all about inviting the meaning of Christmas into our hearts.

Why do the holidays seem to focus on bringing people together--whether it’s to celebrate with loved ones in appreciation for the gift of another year, or to bring others into our lives through a helping hand or caring gesture? It’s all about inviting the meaning of Christmas into our hearts.

Could it be that without sharing with one another we can’t recognize Jesus Christ in our world?  We may be no different than the two friends of Jesus who, while travelling from Jerusalem, met a “stranger”.  They were taken aback that this stranger had not heard the news that their hoped-for King had been betrayed, destroying their hopes for redemption from oppression forever.

Though they shared about the events of the previous days on their journey, they had no idea who they were travelling with until they invited him to share a meal with them.  Throughout the Gospels Jesus has much to say about sharing with others—in doing so we will receive a reward.  Indeed, the best gift of all, knowing Him.
