Why Is The Church So Full of Hard Heads?

Rock Polishers Unite as Stones for Christ

Does a rock polisher bring back fond memories of childhood?  What about the youthful marveling at smooth ocean-tumbled stones found at the shore.  I think God sees us like that--as His treasures refined by the storms of life.

A passage written by the Apostle Peter makes it apparent God wants to do more than smooth out our rough edges.  We are urged to "like living stones, let yourselves be built into a spiritual house."

"Living stones" is actually a construction method used during the time of Christ.  Small stones were rubbed together until they fit perfectly--some structures still standing to this day.

Our modern day dwellings for the presence of God in our midst are built using this same technique.  He has us work together--never an easy task!  No doubt you're familiar with a committee of hard heads; many of which have temperaments as hard as rock or personalities set in stone.  But as we rub against one another to implement a structure for caring and reaching out to those around us, we become fit together as a spiritual house.  Each of us changing, learning about real love and community.

And then God looks and says, "It's marvelous!"
