Zero to Sixty in One Year
A 59-year-old shows that it's not too late to start an exercise program.

I was 59 years old when I decided to take up running for exercise. The last time I had really done any type of running, a very nice Army drill sergeant was trying to lovingly convince me that "run 'till you drop" was a fun game.
On my quest to exercise, I had found an app called "Couch to 5k" or c25k. The nine week program starts with sixty seconds runs and works up to a 5k . When I started the first week of sixty second runs it took me about three weeks to complete. Then it was on to three minute runs and what seemed to be impossible, even five minute runs. I stuck with it through the snow and even ran in Florida and on cruise ship using their running track. Now a year later, here I am sixty years old and twenty pounds lighter. I will be running in the Father's Day Road Race on Sunday June 19th . So look for the guy– probably near the back– with the faded Yankees hat.
