BRANFORD, CT – After Board of Finance unanimous approval on Tuesday night, the last okay needed for the town to go ahead with a $6 million energy upgrade project for town buildings is consent of the Representative Town Meeting.

The finance board gave its consent after hearing Finance Director Jim Finch state the project, which will be bonded, should pay for itself by the amount of money saved through energy savings the enhancements will bring.

The work, which will be done by Honeywell, is expected to reduce energy consumption in town buildings by about 20 percent.

All town buildings, including schools, will receive lighting, heating and air conditioning upgrades. Part of the program is for Honeywell officials to teach students in Branford about the benefits of energy consumption.
