Branford Citizen and Former New Haven Banker Focuses on Giving Back

A Branford resident, William O'Brien has given back to the community in many ways and continues to do so.

Branford resident William O’Brien, a former commercial New Haven banker has dedicated his life to giving to the community, Shoreline Times reports.

The 74-year-old, former Army reservist helped revive the Branford Festival on the Green in 1989 and helped build the Daniel Cosgrove Animal Shelter. O’Brien helps organize the New Haven St. Patrick’s Day Parade and was inducted into the Branford Sports Hall of Fame in 2012.

O’Brien has many other accomplishments to his name and was named Citizen of the Year by the former Branford Review, the paper reports.

A graduate of Quinnipiac University, Branford High School’s William O’Brien Spirit of Community award is named after him.
