Branford Cops Save Woman's Life with CPR

The officers arrived, treated the woman and performed CPR when her pulse stopped.

Three Branford police officers are being credited with saving a woman’s life by performing CPR early this morning.

Officers were dispatched to the Stony Creek Town Dock around 4:30 a.m. this morning after the woman’s boyfriend called 911 and said she had tried to harm herself, said Capt.Geoffrey Morgan, police spokesman.

Officers Corrianne Dionne and Lue Sobieraj located the woman in her vehicle, bleeding from the neck and wrists, Morgan said.

The officers applied pressure to her wounds and notified inbound Branford paramedics that the woman’s breathing stopped and she became unresponsive.

The woman lost her pulse and the two officers along with Officer Jay Kaufman performed about 25 seconds of CPR before her pulse came back.

Branford paramedics arrived a short time later, treated the woman and brought her to Yale-New Haven Hospital.

“I am very proud of our Officers’ efforts,” said Chief Kevin Halloran. “We rely heavily on the services that the Branford Fire Department Paramedics provide to our community and it isn’t very often that Branford Officers are required to initiate that type of emergency medical care.”
