Branford Coronavirus Update: Senior Home Safety Program Funding

Funding for home safety improvements for seniors in Branford, Guilford, East Haven and Madison available by Shoreline Village CT.

BRANFORD, CT — Some funding is available for seniors to help pay for improvements to keep their homes safe.

Shoreline Village CT, a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization whose mission is to enable seniors to live independently in their own homes, is providing funding of up to $1,000 for seniors in Branford, Guilford, East Haven and Madison.

It's noted in a press release that while the program is not limited to Shoreline Village CT members, they are given priority.

There are no income barriers but the funds are meant to be used for safety measures, not upgrades. There is a $1000 cap per household.

Improvements might include anything from widening doorways to accommodate a wheelchair and installing railings on stairs, to motion sensors in every room, lever-style doorknobs, and an easy-to-use step stool to reach higher shelves.
