Branford Election 2021: Chuck Tiernan Running For RTM, Constable

BRANFORD, CT — The state Municipal Election is Tuesday, Nov. 2.

Patch contacted candidates to answer questions about their campaigns.

Democrat Chuck Tiernan, 63, is running for RTM 7th District and Town Constable in Branford.

Occupation: Attorney

Family: Marie, age 66, wife Jack, age 26, son

Experience: currently serve as a constable

Family in government: No

The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it:

The Town lacks a cohesive and directed plan for business development. We need to get businesses to move in to the Town center to make our downtown a vibrant location as it once was.

Critical differences between me and my opponents:

I believe my Republican opponents are satisfied with the status quo when in fact Branford can be so much better

Accomplishments:

I was the captain of both my high school and college football teams as a senior. I have been a partner in my law firm since 1988 and serve a leadership role as part of the management committee. I serve as treasurer of the executive Board of the Juniper Point Association. I am an elected Constable and a lifelong Branford resident. I am a member of the Democratic State Central Committee and currently serve as Chairman of the State Judicial Selection Commission.

Other issues:

We need communication and transparency in Town government and both are sorely lacking.

What else would you like voters to know about you?

I love the Town of Branford and want to be a catalyst for positive change as we don't appear to be moving in the right direction with the current administration and the Republican controlled RTM. We can do so much better.
