Branford Fire Department Legend Peter DaRos Passes Away

DaRos, who served as a volunteer assistant fire chief, is remembered as a "great teacher, mentor" to so many in the Fire Department.

BRANFORD, CT — The Branford Fire Department and community are mourning the death of Volunteer Assistant Chief Peter DaRos, who died on Sunday. Stony Creek Rescue Fire Company 5 shared the sad news.

"AC DaRos was a great teacher, mentor. He was a very knowledgeable man and if you had any question to what Branford was like back in the day he was the guy to go too. He always had a good story and if you were in need of a laugh you could always see him. He was all around a good guy. Rest In Peace, Chief."

Deputy Fire Chief William F. Pepe Sr. wrote "Such a sad loss.. I have know Pete for over 40 years, I first met him as my boy scout leader down in Stony Creek, and then as my Fire Explorer advisor. Taught us all how to tie knots, a funny story every meeting night, great times camping in the quarry. I learned so much from him and his brother Unk and their father. From there I Joined the Branford Fire Department and continued to work with him and then finally beside him. Thank you Pete, you will be missed. My condolences to Petey and the entire DaRos families."
